Workshop on Sunflower Oil Sector in Ukraine 2005
Improving policy making processes by involving private stakeholders is one of the priority areas of EastAgri Network.
On April 5, FAO and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development held a 2nd workshop on "The Sunflower Oil Sector in Ukarine:towards a mid-term Strategy" under the aegis of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.
The workshop, funded by EBRD's Taipei Cooperation Fund, aimed at finalizing the medium-term strategy for the Sunflower Oil sector in Ukraine.
The policy issues at stake included (i) the reform of the value added tax system, (ii) the export tax on sunflower seeds, (ii) representation of seed producers, and (iv) improving performance in the farm sector. The workshop conclusions were endorsed by all participants. They should be presented to the senior management of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine during summer 2005.
