CEI/KEP Wholesale Markets Study tours

On 26-28 June 2006, the FAO Investment Centre organized, with the support of the World Bank and European Union TACIS Project, a study tour on the Italian wholesale markets and modern food retail systems. The study tour is financed by Central European Initiative through the Know-How Exchange Programme Programme (KEP).

The overall objective of the KEP project was to transfer Polish and Italian know-how in the area of fresh produce wholesale markets to Ukraine, which has little experience in this sector. The target audience of the study tour included Ukrainian decision-makers in wholesale markets development such as Ministry of Agricultural Policy (MAP) representatives, local authorities at oblast and municipality levels, academics advising governments on market infrastructures, and selected private stakeholders involved in fresh produce market operations.
